INDONESIA VTS For MALACCA STRAITS

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE

Background

•  great amount of vessels passing the straits
•  additionally high speed ferries crossing back and forth
•   A need for a more comprehensive service in addition to   the existing service
•  VTS is expected to bring greater contribution to the safety of navigation for users  of  the straits

    Objective

• This paper is intended to notify all parties involved in this forum about the progress of   Indonesian     VTS.
•  Indonesia proposes initial cooperation and further arrangement which   needs to be considered under the Cooperative Mechanism.
